How to Properly Curl Your Hair Without Damaging It

by / Monday, 17 July 2023 / Published in Uncategorized

With the proper technique, you can achieve wavy curls with minimal damage. First, prepare your hair by not preparing it. Let it get a little dirty. The only product that you should put in it should be a mousse to keep whatever locks you have in place.

Dry your hair completely before you start in on your hot tools. Even if your hair is a little damp, it can become damaged from a thermal brush or a curling iron. The moisture and the heat create the sizzling sound that you may have heard before – and it’s not good for your locks

Get a sulfate-free heat protectant serum before you blow dry your hair.

Once you get ready to curl, use the lowest heat setting possible for your hair. Make sure that you curl for no more than seven seconds per strand. The ideal time is three seconds per pull. Give each curl time to set by pinning it to your head with a bit of holding hair spray. It should sit against your head until it is completely cooled.

What curling iron should I use?If you are looking for big curls, then you want to use a curling iron with a bigger radius. A 1/2 inch iron is great for tight curls. Your 3/4 inch will give you a vintage look. A 1-inch iron is a great look if you have short or medium length hair. The 1 and 1/4 inch curling iron is the most popular for a reason: It gives a natural, sexy look that Hollywood has basically adopted as its go to hair style. Loose curls are in!
